Having composed over one hundred, Palestrina was an expert at writing masses but his Pope Marcellus Mass stands out amongst the many; it was performed at every Papal Coronation between its composition and the 1960s and its beauty is credited with having saved the future of western music by preventing a ban of polyphonic composition. It will be sung in this concert interspersed with equally acclaimed sacred music written over 400 years later.
Tickets £15 - £25
