A huge thank you to all who came to the Temple Church concert. It was wonderful to see such a full church with a very appreciative audience.
We hope everyone left feeling warmed and uplifted by the music in such beautiful surroundings. If you enjoyed the concert and are hungry for more, missed the concert and are hungry for some, or simply intrigued by what you’re reading, read on…
Things will soon kick off again for the Holst Singers as rehearsals commence for two concerts in quick succession: an appearance as part of the Voices Now Festival at the Camden Roundhouse on 9th May (tickets available here), followed by the second concert in our Handel Oratorios series at St John’s Smith Square on 20th June. This year we will be performing Joshua with The Brook Street Band and a very special line up of soloists, and of course Stephen Layton at the helm. As one of the annual highlights in London’s choral calendar, this really is an event not to be missed and it’d be great to see you there – click here for more details and tickets.
And that’s not it! Following hot on the heels of the Joshua concert, the Holst Singers will be heading off to Norway during the last week of July to perform a very special piece of music. John Tavener’s The Veil of the Temple was commissioned by the Temple Music Trust and first performed by the Holst Singers and Temple Church Choir at The Temple Church, London in 2003. The Holst Singers have been invited to perform the work, which has an eight hour duration and is performed overnight, with the Norwegian Soloists’ Choir and Nidaros Cathedral Choir and Girls’ Choir at Nidaros Cathedral, Trondheim on 1st–2nd August.
Many thanks as ever for your continuing support!
